My name is Tami Blaszkowski. I am so excited to be a part of the team at Lake Shore High School and teaching a whole new subject, Video Productions. I love what video can do, being creative and making the videos become an integrated part of a school community. I love to pass that excitement on to students.
Background Information:
College: Undergraduate Degree: Eastern Michigan University - Bachelor of Science in Education - Graduated Summa Cum Laude
Graduate Degree: Wayne State University - Masters in Library and Information Sciences - Graduated Summa Cum Laude
Teaching since: 2004
Currently Teaching: Video Productions
Previously Taught: Media Specialist
Professional: I received my teaching certificate in 1993, but was unable to get a permanent job and I ended up staying home with my children until I decided to go back to school for my Masters and become a School Media Specialist. My first position was at Madison High School in Madison District Public Schools where I stayed for three years. In 2007 I was hired in as the Media Specialist at Kennedy Middle where I stayed until just this year in 2014 to now teach at Lake Shore High School.
In 2013 I was awarded Teacher of the Year at Kennedy Middle School. This honor is very special to me as a teacher.
Personal and Family: I love spending time with my family. My husband of 22 years is a Curriculum Director in another district and we like to travel when we can. I have two children my son, Kyle, is a senior in high school and my daughter, Melanie, is a sophomore at Oakland University majoring in Linguistics. I also take classes at Macomb Community College in the Video Productions MACA area to help make me the best teacher I can possibly be for my students. In my free time I enjoy exercising, reading, and traveling.
